LARES TREK - MACHUPICCHU 4D/3N


Lares is a town located (3.250 m above sea level), where we'll start our walk and take our first break to enjoy its medicinal thermo-waters. This will definitely be a unique and unforgettable walk since we'll inform you of the indigenous people of the area’s communication and you will learn about their customs and lifestyles. This walk is part of the Sacred Valley of the Incas, entering a path with the stunning scenery of mountains and lakes as Sihuirococha, Ancascocha, etc., with forests and valleys that are covered by the morning mists. We´ll pass by Quechua communities where the inhabitants use loom woven clothing, their fabrics are nuances that are at a high level of textiles. We will visit many places full of scenery heading to the village of Ollantaytambo and catch our train to the town of Machu Picchu.

lares treks piscinasWe leave Cusco by bus, on the way down to Pisaq in Huaran stream (2950 m/9676 ft). Here we begin to walk up a small valley that tapers gradually upwards, while an original Inca Trail, enjoying a variety of flora and fauna.
After a few hours of walking, we arrived at Cancha cancha Comummnity (4000 m / 13.192 ft), where you will be greeted and have the opportunity to share a glimpse of the traditional lifestyle and culture of this Andean community.

DAY 1: CUSCO - CACHORA - PLAYA ROSALINA.
4:00 am pick up from your hotel and travel to Cachora (4 hours by bus): While the group is having breakfast the crew will arrange the horses for the trek. On this day we will walk 22 km, first flat and finally descending to playa Rosalina close to the Apurimac River, the main tributary of the Amazon River. Campsite at 1550 mamsl.

Ausangate Mountain is the highest mountain in the Cordillera Vilcanota. The Cordillera Vilcanota is an impressive range of mountains which include the massive Nevado de Ausangate (6,385m) and three others tops over 6000m.
It's excellent trekking circuit offering to the traveller everything you could want: spectacular mountain scenery, snow-capped peaks, hot springs, turquoise lakes, glaciers, herds of llamas and alpacas, picturesque villages and traditionally dressed Quechua people. This is a moderate to challenging trek, not technical with several high passes and often freezing cold nights so be prepared. This beautiful six day trek starts and finishes at the small Andean village of Tinqui and takes you around the massif of Ausangate mountain and over three high passes (two of them over 5000m).
It is essential to be properly acclimatized for this hike spending at least two or three days in Cusco (or equivalent altitude) before starting.

The peak of Auzangate is considered by the local people to be a sacred Apu and it is the central most powerful point of pilgrimage for today’s Quechuas descendents. This fascinated trek can be also combined with famous Inti raymi fest, Sun`s festival in Cusco or the winter solstice fest in Qoyllor rity snow capped mountains opposite from Ausangate.

Duration: 6 Days.
